Debbie and David

CATLING

Debbie and David have been happily married since 1991 and share a deep passion for food. Debbie is a Chef, while David is a passionate wine lover. Together, they have built multiple successful business ventures in the food industry across Edmonton and Calgary. Their longest-standing and most beloved venture is Yum Bakery, which they purchased in 2009 at the Calgary Farmers Market. Debbie and David are dedicated to feeding families, including their own seven children – four girls and three boys in that order – 10 grandchildren – the families of their staff, and the families of their customers. With a strong commitment to quality and passion for their craft, Debbie and David are beloved figures in the local food community.

Ariga and Katy

AGOES

Katy is the second daughter of David and Debbie, and she inherited her parents’ love for food. In 2017, Katy married Ariga and the couple brought their extensive restaurant management experience to Yum Bakery in September 2018. Katy and Ariga met while living in Vancouver and share a passion for food, travel, and their growing family. With three children, Katy and Ariga keep busy spending time outdoors with their kids, keeping them active and tiring them out.

Samantha

TIPPE

Samantha Tippe is the Executive Pastry Chef at Yum Bakery, with a strong passion for the art of baking. Samantha began her culinary journey by completing her cooking journeyman at NAIT, but quickly discovered that her true passion was in the baking world. While pursuing a business degree, she honed her baking skills and started her career at Duchess Bakeshop in Edmonton. In 2012, Samantha and her spouse relocated to Calgary, where she joined the Yum Bakery team and has been an integral part of the bakery ever since. Samantha’s favourite aspects of the bakery are laminating doughs, decorating, and creating artisan breads. In 2015, Samantha and her spouse welcomed their son Braeden into the world. They have since settled in the charming town of Cochrane and enjoy the small-town life.

Chantiesa

COURTRIGHT

Chantiesa is the Executive Sous Pastry Chef at Yum Bakery, specializing in baking artisan breads, mixing, and shaping doughs. Chantiesa graduated from the Baking and Pastry Arts program at SAIT in 2013 and has since called Yum Bakery home, where she completed her apprenticeship and received her Red Seal certification. With a reputation for being a jack-of-all-trades, Chantiesa has honed her skills and discovered her true passion lies in bread making. When not in the bakery, Chantiesa spends quality time at home with her husband Willie and daughter Amelia.

Kalin

Kalin Roads is a highly skilled Red Seal baker with over 7 years of experience at Yum Bakery. She completed her baking apprenticeship at SAIT in 2017, specializing in pastry, bread, and decorating. In addition to her passion for baking, Kalin is also a connoisseur of monster movies, comic books, and so-bad-it’s-good movies. She enjoys expressing her creativity through drawing, resin casting tabletop dice, and writing. Kalin currently resides in Calgary, Alberta with her loving family, including her husband, daughter, and adorable dog.

Amy

Amy is a dedicated and creative team member who has been contributing her skills to Yum for the past 4 years. She began her journey as an eager intern and went on to graduate from the esteemed Baking and Pastry Arts diploma program at SAIT in 2020. Her passion for baking was sparked by her great grandma, a talented cake artist who created stunning wedding cakes. Inspired by her family legacy, Amy has embraced cake artistry as a way to express her creativity. Outside of work, she finds joy in painting, practicing yoga, immersing herself in nature, and tending to her garden. Amy nurtures a deep desire to explore the world and aspires to one day share her expertise by teaching decorating classes.

Kyra

Kyra has been a member of the Yum Bakery team for the past three years. Kyra started her career as a cook in professional kitchens around the Calgary area. Over the years she discovered a passion for Baking. Kyra then enrolled in the Baking and Pastry Arts program at SAIT – graduating is 2021. She completed her Journeyman ticket in 2023. Kyra is passionate about artisan bread and looks forward to continuing her education within the industry.

Kalin
